1972: Murder of "Crazy Joey" Gallo

Gallo was celebrating his fortythird birthday on April 7, 1972 and decided to dine at Umberto's Clam House in Manhattan's Little Italy. Gallo and his bodyguard were relaxed and made the mistake of sitting with their backs to the door. A gunman came in and fired at Gallo with an automatic revolver. Gallo was hit, but managed to walk outside, where he collapsed and died.
