Ah, the Roaring Twenties, how we can’t get enough of those glorious times when women were broads, men were fellas, and everyone dressed to the nines while sipping some illegal brew during Prohibition. Hollywood knows this all too well and serves us Live by Night, a slick gangster film set in the 1920s and 1930s starring Ben Affleck as Joe Coughlin, who becomes a very successful bootlegger and powerful gangster.
Besides playing the lead role, Affleck also took on the job of director, as he sought to bring us a visually stunning crime epic set in the American underworld’s most lucrative and highly tumultuous era.
Other big names to star are Brendan Gleeson as Thomas Coughlin, Scott Eastwood as Danny Coughlin, Sienna Miller as Emma Gould, Zoe Saldana as Graciella Corrales, and Chris Cooper as Irving Figgis.
