On this day in 2006: On April 11, 2006, Italian police arrested Sicilian Mafia boss of bosses Bernardo Provenzano in a shack near his hometown of Corleone, Sicily. He had been a fugitive since 1963 and had led Cosa Nostra while on the run using a trusted circle of Mafiosi and family and communicated via “pizzini”, small notes with coded, handwritten messages on them.
